Nicapetre Cultural Centre came into being on the 6th December 2001, in order to accommodate the donation of the sculptor Nicapetre and it is located inside the residence of the former House of Art Collection (1986 – 2001).
The building was the head office of Embiricos et Co. M. Embiricos was one of the richest men in Braila. A shipowner and dealer, he used to export grain and import charcoal, he owned a regular goods shipping line at the Black Sea and the Danubian Ports for transportation among England, the Continent and the Mediterranean Sea. He was also owning the regular transport line over the Atlantic: Constanta – New York which employed luxury ships and had the following passenger lines: Marseille – Pireas and Thessaloniki – Constantinople – Varna. Embiricos was a General Representative for two navigation companies: Byron Steam-Ship Co. Ltd London and National Steam Navigation Co. Ltd from Greece.Nicapetre’s Work
